TEA details

Postby mellan » Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:05 pm

Hi, I finally scraped the corrosion off the chassis plate. The serial number is TEA 110955 and the engine number is S66904E. It is 6V
I am still dismantling but nothing to nasty so far. The steering box is full of good oil, haven't seen inside the gearbox yet

Hi to everyone out there, I have a tea 20 but has no serial no plate, it's long corroded away but I have the engine number. Could anyone help me by cross references, data sheets, etc to find my serial number. Anything would be appreciative. My engine number is S90475E I think it's from 1950 many thanks.

It all depends on where you are in the world. If you’re in the U.K. the only way of retrieving the original serial number and/or registration number is at the county registration office that the tractor was originally registered at. This is assuming the records still exist and they wrote down the engine number. To the best of my knowledge there aren’t any factory records.

Thanks grunt for your reply, I'm in Australia my tea is from 1950 as far as I'm aware. I guess I'll have to keep digging around hopeful that someone one day can shed some light on it. Cheers

Your engine was most likely from 1950. We can narrow it down some with some casting codes. There is one above and behind the dynamo and one beside the rear end dip stick.
The sample attached indicates Dec. 21, 1950.

If you can dig up both date codes, we can get close. Both will be needed because in some cases the engine was swapped out of an older or newer tractor.

Hi moose in reply to your reply, the numbers on the block and rear dipstick seem to be the same that is 25 9 0. The number on block looks the same its either a 25 or 28 9 0 that's all I can see through the grey paint. Cheers.

Okay so your castings were made on the 25th or 28th of September, 1950. The finished tractor would have left the plant two to six weeks later.

Hi moose thanks for info mate that's what I thought too. As I'm in Australia a chap here said a similar thing, so it would've landed here early 51 I'd say.

Hello Harry , depending on what state your tractor was delivered to I may be able to help narrow the field down a little .
